Investing in Education | Ways of GivingWhat's unique about Bank StreetBank Street School for Children develops children as successful learners and engaged members of their communities by empowering them to make connections to their world, to the people around them, and to their developing knowledge and ideas. Bank Street School supports teachers and mentors teachers-in-training to create an educational community that nurtures lifelong learners and encourages students to be citizens of the world. By partnering with Bank Street School for Children through your charitable support, all members of the community, past and present, can help the School to realize its mission of demonstrating and improving educational excellence and helping teachers and children to connect learning meaningfully to the world. The Development Program for the School for ChildrenThe Development Office for the School, located in the division of Institutional Advancement of Bank Street College of Education, serves the School by identifying and securing resources that enhance the School's work with children, teachers and families. Another part of the mission of the SFC Development Office is to strengthen links to the School's alumni through outreach and programming. The SFC Development Office publishes the biannual SFC newsletter for parents, alumni, staff and friends of the School, SFC Network. Ways of givingAnnual GivingThink Kids. Think Learning. Capital GivingPeriodically, the School raises funds for major improvements to the physical plant or projects that require large sums of money. Major gifts are pledged over a period of three to five years. Endowment GivingSpecial gifts may be made to the following specific endowed funds:
In-KindBank Street appreciates in-kind gifts, such as books for our library, special equipment, etc. Please contact the Development Office at 212-961-3339. Planned GivingGifts of all kinds help fulfill Bank Street School's potential and secure its future. But that's just the beginning when you give a planned gift of cash or non-cash assets. Planned Gifts to Bank StreetDonors who make a Planned Gift become members of the Lucy Sprague Mitchell Society, named after Bank Street's founder who also left a bequest in her will. Our philosophy is that first and foremost, estate planning means ensuring that one's loved ones will be safe and secure. And secondly, estate planning means taking care of any personal obligations. When one has taken care of these important things, we hope that one will think of Bank Street. Ways to Make a Planned Gift: The most popular way of becoming a Lucy Sprague Mitchell Society member is by mentioning Bank Street in one's will:
By naming Bank Street as the recipient of a retirement account By naming Bank Street as the recipient of a life insurance policy. By taking out a Charitable Gift Annuity. The Donor makes a gift of at least $10,000 to Bank Street. Bank Street sends the gift to TIAA-Cref, which invests it. Donor receives guaranteed income for life, along with a large tax deduction. At the end of the Donor's life the remainder passes to Bank Street. For further information please contact Barbara Perry Morgan, Director of Planned Giving at 212-961-3328 or at bpm@bankstreet.edu.
